Myoma or uterine fibroids are the commonest tumors of the uterus found in women. About 40% of the women have a fibroid in their uterus by 40 years of age.Myomectomy is the operation of removal of the fibroid or myoma ONLY without sacrificing or removing the uterus.  This surgery is particularly suited for young girls and women who are yet to complete their families. 

Myomectomy is better done by Laparoscopic route as this is a surgery reserved for young women in whom the big scar of open surgery should be avoided to increase the cosmetic quotient. The myoma is taken out completely through the laparoscopic incision or port after in bag morcellation .
